SEO Lens - Privacy Policy

SEO Lens is a Chrome extension developed by Kuldeep Yadav / MediaHubX ("we", "us", "our") that audits the on-page SEO of the webpage you are viewing. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.

1. Data Collected

None. SEO Lens does not collect, log, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, or page content to us. There is no account, no backend server, and no analytics of any kind built into the extension.

2. How the Audit Works

When you open the side panel and press "Scan page," a script is injected into the active tab to read its rendered DOM - headings, links, images, meta tags, and structured data - so the results can be shown to you. This scan runs only on demand, only on the tab you choose, and only for as long as it takes to compute the results shown in the panel.

3. Network Requests

When you scan a page, the extension makes requests to that same site - never to us or any third party - to fetch robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and the page's own HTTP response headers (used to detect a header-level X-Robots-Tag: noindex that isn't visible in the page source). No other network requests are made.

4. Data Storage

The most recent audit result for each tab is cached in chrome.storage.session, keyed by tab ID, so reopening the side panel doesn't force a re-scan. This cache is cleared automatically when you close your browser. Nothing is written to persistent storage, and nothing ever leaves your device.

5. Permissions

SEO Lens requests broad host access (<all_urls>) because users audit pages on arbitrary domains - their own sites, staging environments, and competitors' pages - which cannot be known in advance. This access is used only to read the DOM of the tab you explicitly choose to scan, and never in the background or without your action.

6. Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any data to begin with. SEO Lens contains no remote code; everything it runs ships inside the extension package.

7. Children's Privacy

SEO Lens is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children, as the extension collects no information from anyone.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
